Making the most of your social space in your garden during the autumn

Making the most of your social space in your garden during the autumn - The Outdoor Kitchen Company Ltd

We at The Outdoor Kitchen Company believe that outdoor cooking shouldn’t be just for summer. There is something magical about sitting around a fit pit on a crisp autumn evening enjoying some comfort food cooked low and slow on a Kamado. So don’t put the covers on just yet, here are some ideas to make the most of autumn cooking:

Pergola

A pergola is a great addition for any garden. During autumn months, it protects you from the elements and rain if the day is unsettled. In the summer, it can provide much needed shade from the afternoon sun. Choose between an aluminium pergola that includes adjustable louvers on the roof or opt for a more traditional oak framed unit with a tiled roof. Modern aluminium pergolas include a range of mod-cons including integrated speakers and lighting, and drainage systems. We work with a range of pergola suppliers to suit your design and budget.

Lights

When the night sets in, you want some ambient light to create a fantastic atmosphere. Create a great setup by adding festival lights and lanterns to add some warm light while you sit under the stars. You could even add some lights into your potted plants to create a Mediterranean feel. Many of our kitchens include LED solar lights to allow you to cook and socialise at night under the stars with ease.

Food

The summer time is the perfect time for lighting the coals on the BBQ and creating some incredible flame grilled burgers. Autumn, however, is the perfect time to experiment with your food and try new techniques. Ever had smoked vegetables? Give them a go. Or, convert your kamado into a DIY tandoor oven by removing the top vent and hanging kebab skewers from the top. Low and slow smoked food such as brisket or beer can chicken using a smoker or a kamado oven and are a great replacement instead of roasted meat on a Sunday dinner.

Heat

Get yourself a firepit or gas heater to keep you cosy and warm under the stars. Not only are they a fantastic feature in the garden, but they create a great place to socialise during the night when it gets a little cooler. Opt for a gas fire pit that brings elegant flames through a centre-piece or a traditional log pit made from corten steel.

Waterproof fabrics

Normally its best to bring in the soft furnishings from the garden once the weather becomes more unsettled. However, a great low maintenance alternative is to go for weatherproof upholstery. These repel water and keep fresh throughout all seasons. Meaning you don’t need to have to pull out all of the furniture if you want to enjoy alfresco dining in the autumn months.

Our outdoor kitchens are the perfect addition to any UK garden. Fully weatherproof by design, our kitchens do not need annual maintenance or need to be covered at any time. Enjoy anytime, year after year.
